After two weeks of the second half, Erie has won 11 of their first 12 games to lead the Southwest, while Portland leads the Northeast, taking eight of 12. Erie took all six games against Akron last week. Chesapeake took five of its six games against Binghamton. Portland and Harrisburg took their series; the Senators only played five games against Richmond due to Saturday’s game being rained out. Saturday – Two-run fifth leads Baysox
Chesapeake, tied 2-2 entering the fifth, got an RBI single from Frederick Bencosme and an RBI double from Tavian Josenberger to make it 4-2. They got an insurance run in the eighth on a wild pitch to make it 5-2. Binghamton got a run back in the home half of the eighth on a Matt Rudick solo home run, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 5-3. Sebastian Gongora improved to 7-3, going six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out six. Micah Ashman picked up his third save with a scoreless ninth.
Sunday – Baysox One-Hit Rumble Ponies
Chesapeake took a 1-0 lead in the fourth as Anderson De Los Santos drew a bases-loaded walk. They added another run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Thomas Sosa that brought home Frederick Bencosme to make it 2-0. Luis De Leon got the start, allowing the lone Binghamton hit, going 5.2 innings; he walked three and struck out nine. He improved to 3-6. Alex Pham, Richard Guasch, and Gerald Ogando combined to keep the one-hitter going as they walked one and struck out four; Ogando grabbed his second save of the season. Jonathan Santucci for Binghamton went six innings, allowing two runs on two hits. He walked four and struck out ten. Nick Lorusso had the Rumble Ponies’ lone hit.

Saturday – Portland Walk-Off Curve
Portland tied the game in the eighth after Altoona took a 2-1 lead. Ahbram Liendo had the tying run as he lined into a force out, which brought home Nelly Taylor. The game was still tied 2-2 in the tenth, and Liendo singled home Miguel Bleis for a 3-2 win. Patrick Sandoval, in a rehab outing, went five scoreless innings, allowing a hit. He walked one and struck out seven. Anthony Eyanson went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He walked one and struck out seven. Matt Ager for Altoona went seven innings, allowing a run on three hits; they walked one and struck out five.
Sunday – Sea Dogs Blank Curve
Portland got four runs in the second, two on a Marvin Alcantara two-run home run, another on a wild pitch, and then an Ahbram Liendo RBI single to make it 4-0. They added a run in the third, another in the sixth, three in the seventh, and one in the eighth in the 10-0 win. Blake Wehunt went five scoreless innings for Portland, allowing a hit. He walked four and struck out nine. Jedixson Paez got his first save of the season, going four scoreless innings, allowing a hit, no walks, and striking out eight. Callan Moss and Titus Dumitru had Altoona’s lone hits.

Saturday – Four-Run Third Leads Reading over New Hampshire
New Hampshire jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI single by Jorge Burgos. The lead was short-lived as Bryan Rincon singled home a run, then Pedro Leon hit a three-run home run to make it 4-1, Fightin Phils. Adam Seminarias got the ball for Reading, going five innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five. Alex McFarlane picked up his tenth save of the season.
Sunday – Fisher Cats Score Four in Second to secure series split with Reading.
The Fisher Cats got a two-run home run from Hedbert Perez in the second to take a 2-0 lead, then Patrick Winkel singled home a run, and Cade Doughty drove home another with a sacrifice fly. Reading got three runs in the third on a Luke Ritter two-RBI single and a Bryan Rincon bases-loaded hit by pitch. That was all the Fightin Phils would score.

The Flying Squirrels and Senators saw their 4th of July day game postponed due to inclement weather.
Sunday – Senators score three in eighth to win series finale over Richmond
The Senators trailed 5-1 entering the home half of the sixth. Kevin Pichardo scored on a wild pitch to bring it to 5-2. In the seventh, Cortland Lawson drove home another on a sacrifice fly. Harrisburg took control in the eighth on a Sam Brown RBI single, then a Caleb Lomavita two-run home run, which led to the 6-5 win over Richmond. Parks Harber led Richmond, going 2-4 with two home runs, a solo shot, and a two-run homer as he drove in three of the Flying Squirrels’ five runs.
Somerset vs. Hartford
Saturday – Mahoney Keeps Patriots Bats Quiet
The Yard Goats got two runs in the third and fifth and added runs in the fourth and seventh along with a brilliant pitching performance from Jack Mahoney. He improved to 4-1, going seven innings, allowing a run on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four. Kevin Verde drove in Somerset’s lone run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Sunday – Hartford Shuts Out Somerset
The Yard Goats got a two-run home run from Roc Riggio in the first, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. In the second, Andy Perez drove home a run on a sacrifice fly, then Dyan Jorge doubled home a run, making it 4-0 in the second. Hartford scored again as Perez stole second and GJ Hill scored on a wild pitch. Jackson Cox got the start for the Yard Goats, going six scoreless innings; he didn’t allow a hit, walked four, and struck out three. Carlos Torres and Fidel Ulloa combined out of the bullpen to keep the shutout. They went three innings combined, allowing three hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.
Erie vs. Akron
Saturday – SeaWolves Score Eight Early to beat Akron
Erie got a three-run home run from Chris Meyers to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Akron got two back on a Jaison Chourio two-run homer. The SeaWolves pulled away in the second. Andrew Jenkins singled home two, and Max Burt hit a three-run home run. Akron kept inching back into the game, but a Garrett Pennington RBI triple in the eighth put the game away in a 9-7 win.
Sunday – Erie Wins in Extras to Complete Series Sweep of Akron
The game was tied 2-2 entering the ninth. Garrett Pennington hit a solo home run to give Erie a 3-2 lead. Three outs away, Nick Mitchell hit an RBI single to tie it and force extras. In the tenth, Bennett Lee singled home a run to make it 4-3, and they held Akron at bay to secure the win.
