Boston Red Sox Acquire Adley Rutschman From Baltimore Orioles for Four Players

The Boston Red Sox are reportedly acquiring catcher Adley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore is acquiring top prospects right-handed pitchers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon. They’re also receiving outfielder Enddy Azocar, catcher Carlos Narvaez, and a player to be named later. The trade initially named Harold Rivas as the final player before the teams replaced him with a player to be named later. The Red Sox are also reportedly getting Jake Rogers in the deal as well.

Rutschman is currently on the injured list, with a return expected later this month. In 67 games, he’s hitting .251 with a .764 OPS. He has 19 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 47 RBI, and 30 runs scored. Rogers, in only three games for the Orioles, went 1-5 with a walk. In 37 total games, he’s hitting .163 with a .565 OPS. He has two doubles, a triple, three home runs, nine RBI, and 11 runs scored.

Eyanson, in 16 appearances with 15 coming as starts between High-A and Double is 4-0. He has a 1.32 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and 94 strikeouts in 68.1 innings. Witherspoon, in 17 starts this season, is 3-5 with a 4.78 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 78 strikeouts in 75.1 innings. Azocar, in 85 games, is hitting .286 with a .880 OPS. He has 27 doubles, six triples, 18 home runs, 63 RBI, and 76 runs scored. Narvaez, in 62 games, is hitting .187 with a .535 OPS. He has six doubles, three home runs, ten RBI, and 17 runs scored.
