Portland Scores Four Early to Beat Altoona
In the bottom of the third, Johanfran Garcia brought in two runs on a double, then Ronald Rosario singled home two more to give the Sea Dogs an early 4-0 lead. They added two in the fifth and three in the seventh to win 9-3. Derek Berg, Titus Dumitru, and Callan Moss combined to go 6-12 with three RBI and a run scored for Altoona. John Holobetz went 5.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He walked one and struck out seven.
Chesapeake Scores Two in Ninth to Beat Binghamton
The game was tied 3-3 after a three-run seventh from the Baysox. Nick Lucky gave Binghamton the lead 4-3. In the ninth, Thomas Sosa drove in two with a single to give Chesapeake the lead, and Zane Barnhart shut the door for his fourth save of the season. R.J. Gordon for the Rumble Ponies went five scoreless innings, allowing five hits, a walk, and striking out two.
New Hampshire Evens Series with Reading
The Fisher Cats scored five early and added seven in the final two innings in a 12-4 win. New Hampshire led 5-4 entering the eighth. Victor Arias, with the bases loaded, cleared them with a double to make it 8-4. In the ninth, Eddie Micheletti Jr. hit a solo home run, Nick Goodwin had a two-RBI double, and Arias drove home a run with a ground out. Arias went 3-6 with five RBI and a run scored. Goodwin went 3-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Reading got solo home runs from Pedro Leon and Raylin Heredia.
Richmond Blanks Harrisburg
Richmond, in the third, got a sacrifice fly from Parks Harber, then an RBI single by Charlie Szykowny to make it 2-0. In the fifth, Diego Velasquez hit a two-run home run. Harber, in the seventh, hit a three-run home run to make it 7-0, which was the final. Greg Farone and Shane Rademacher combined for the shutout. Farone went six innings, allowing five hits, no walks, and five strikeouts. Rademacher went three innings, allowing no hits, a walk, and struck out two.
Patriots score three in fourth and two in fifth to beat Yard Goats
The Patriots got a three-run home run from Coby Morales in the fourth to make it 3-0. Dyan Jorge had an RBI single to get Hartford on the board. Kevin Verde’s solo home run erased that, and DJ Gladney added an RBI single to make it 5-1. Hartford did get two runs back in the ninth on an Andy Perez RBI single and an RBI groundout from Jack O’Dowd but it wasn’t enough in a 5-3 loss to Somerset. Chase Hampton went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits, four walks, and striking out three.
Erie Beats Akron in Shortened Game
The SeaWolves and RubberDucks only played six innings last night due to rain. Erie got two runs in the first on a Garrett Pennington double. They then got a solo home run from E.J. Exposito in the fourth, along with a Peyton Graham RBI ground-rule double, and a Justice Bigbie RBI single to make it 5-0. Andrew Jenkins added a solo home run in the win. Alfonsin Rosario drove in the lone Akron run. Andrew Sears went 4.1 innings, allowing a run on five hits. He walked one and struck out four.
