MiLB: Eastern League First Half First Team

The first half of the Eastern League season is in the books, and the Hartford Yard Goats and Richmond Flying Squirrels have already punched their tickets to the playoffs. These are the players who made the biggest impact in the first half of the season

C – Maxwell Romero – Harrisburg Senators

Romero, in 46 games this season, is hitting .269 with a .948 OPS. He has 12 doubles, 12 home runs, 31 RBI, and 28 runs scored. He has the fourth-best OPS in the Eastern League.

Honorable Mention: Bryant Bethancourt – Hartford Yard Goats

1B – Alex Binelas – Reading Fightin Phils

Binelas, in 63 games, is hitting .265 with a .902 OPS. He has five doubles, 15 home runs, 39 RBI, and 35 runs scored. Binelas is eighth in the Eastern League in OPS, and he’s tied for third in the league in home runs.

Honorable Mention: Coby Morales – Somerset Patriots

2B – Aron Estrada – Chesapeake Baysox

Estrada, in 60 games during the first half, hit .274 with a .787 OPS. He had 11 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, 35 RBI, and 33 runs scored.

Honorable Mention: Roc Riggio – Hartford Yard Goats

3B – Sean Keys – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Keys got the call to Triple-A, but in 49 games with the Fisher Cats, he hit .285 with a .993 OPS. He had nine doubles, 14 home runs, 34 RBI, and 43 runs scored. He is tied for fifth in the league in home runs, eighth in runs scored, and leads the league in OPS.

Honorable Mention: Cayden Wallace – Harrisburg Senators

SS – Franklin Arias – Portland Sea Dogs

Arias, in 57 games, is hitting .315 with a .974 OPS. He has 13 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 36 RBI, and 38 runs scored. Arias is second in the league in OPS and in batting average. He is also tied for fifth in home runs.

Honorable Mention: John Peck – Erie SeaWolves

OF – Jace Bohrofen – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Although Bohrofen currently is injured, he has posted a .253 batting average and a .932 OPS this season. He has 12 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 34 RBI, and 33 runs scored. He’s sixth in the league in OPS.

OF – Jace Avina – Somerset Patriots

Avina is hitting .295 with a .971 OPS. He has 15 doubles, a triple, 15 home runs, 38 RBI, and 49 runs scored. He is tied for third in home runs, fifth in batting average, third in OPS, and first in runs scored.

OF – Garrett Martin – Somerset Patriots

In 63 games at Somerset hit .270 with a .911 OPS. He has 14 doubles, 21 home runs, 54 RBI, and 47 runs scored. He leads the league in home runs and in RBI. He’s seventh in OPS and fourth in runs scored.

Honorable Mention: Alfonsin Rosario – Akron RubberDucks

DH – Cayden Wallace – Harrisburg Senators

Wallace is hitting .299 with a .936 OPS. He has 14 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs, 44 RBI, and 49 runs scored. He’s second in home runs, fifth in OPS, and second in home runs.

RHP – Braydon Tucker – Reading Fightin Phils

Tucker, in 11 starts, is 6-4 with a 1.72 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts in 62.2 innings. He leads the league in ERA and is tied for the league lead in wins.

Honorable Mention: Jake Brooks – Hartford Yard Goats

LHP – Cesar Perdomo – Richmond Flying Squirrels

Perdomo is 2-2 with a 3.79 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts in 61.2 innings. He is tied for second in the league in strikeouts and leads the league in WHIP.

Honorable Mention: Adam Seminaris – Reading Fightin Phils

RP – Alex McFarlane – Reading Fightin Phils

McFarlane is 1-1 with eight saves. He has a 2.08 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 26 innings. He’s second in the league in saves.

Honorable Mention: Tyler Vogel – Richmond Flying Squirrels
