Red Sox Hitters

To start things off, Roman Anthony is playing in his first rehab game tonight. He’s playing at Double-A Portland, and he’s 2-for-2 with a walk and a single, and in his third at-bat, he crushed a two-run home run. Anthony played left field tonight.

The Yoshida update was that an MRI showed he had a significant strain, but they’re going to have some other doctors take a look at it. He’s likely not going to return until the postseason.

Trevor Story is also rehabbing tonight as he’s playing in Triple-A Worcester. He went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. He’s now 1-for-5 with a run scored during his rehab stint.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start his rehab assignment on Wednesday. Tracy did mention that, even with Story and Kiner-Falefa working their way back when the time comes, Andruw Monasterio will still find playing time.

Curtis Mead is away as his wife gave birth. He is, however, still in a cast and is a ways away from returning.

Red Sox Pitchers

As for the pitchers, Tanner Houck threw a live batting practice in Fort Myers. It was the first time he’s faced live hitters as he works his way back from Tommy John. He threw 20-25 pitches, averaging roughly 93 mph.

As for Justin Slaten and Garrett Whitlock, they had MRI’s which revealed no structural damage in either pitcher’s elbow. They’re both on the injured list with elbow inflammation.

Johan Oviedo is ramping up his throwing as he’s been out since the beginning of the season with a flexor strain. Kutter Crawford is way behind in his rehab as he continues to experience setbacks.
