In the third, it was Abreu again, this time with a two-run homer to make it 3-0. In the bottom of the fifth, Mickey Gasper hit a triple, driving home two, then Isiah Kiner-Falefa doubled home Gasper, and Caleb Durbin would double home Kiner-Falefa, and finally Ceddanne Rafaela would single home Durbin. The five-run fifth would make it 8-0. The Orioles got a run in the seventh. Adley Rutschman tripled to center field, bringing home a run to make it 8-1.

Payton Tolle got the start, going six shutout innings, allowing seven hits, walking two, and striking out five. Ryan Watson closed things out, going three innings, allowing a run on two hits. He walked two and struck out two.

Standout Performer

Wilyer Abreu was the cog tonight, providing three of the Red Sox’s eight runs. He went 2-5 with a run scored and three RBI, which were the game-winning runs.

Key News & Notes

The Red Sox picked up their tenth win at home. Chad Tracy yesterday said they know a streak is coming; they just need one to get there. Hopefully, last night’s win was exactly what they needed to get the monkey off their back. Roman Anthony still isn’t swinging. Reports are that the Red Sox are now looking to add a right-handed bat, and they’re willing to spend money to do so. It’ll be interesting to see what route and names surface that the team interested in everyone is linked to.
