The second half of the minor league baseball season kicked off last night, so we figured, why not take a look back at who performed well in the first half throughout the Tigers organization?

C: Edian Espinal – Lakeland Flying Tigers

Espinal, in 45 games, is hitting .333 with a .935 OPS. He has four doubles, four triples, four home runs, 26 RBI< 23 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

1B: Garrett Pennington – West Michigan Whitecaps

Pennington, in 56 games, hit .292 with a .927 OPS. He had 17 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 53 RBI, 40 runs scored, and a stolen base.

2B: E.J. Exposito – Erie SeaWolves

Exposito in 53 games hit .195 with a .671 OPS. He had six doubles, nine home runs, 31 RBI, 22 runs scored, and nine stolen bases.

3B: Izaac Pacheco – Erie SeaWolves

Pacheco, in 59 games at Erie, hit .221 with a .770 OPS. He has nine doubles, two triples, 11 home runs, 37 RBI, 25 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

SS: Gage Workman – Toledo Mud Hens

Workman, in 51 games, hit .322 with a .920 OPS. He had 20 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, 35 RBI, 33 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases.

OF: Corey Julks – Toledo Mud Hens

Julks in 58 games hit .302 with a .893 OPS. He had eight doubles, 12 home runs, 38 RBI, 35 runs scored, and nine stolen bases.

OF: Brett Callahan – Erie SeaWolves

Callahan, in 60 games, hit .268 with a .878 OPS. He had 13 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases.

OF: Anibal Salas – Lakeland Flying Tigers

Salas, in 53 games, hit .234 with a .786 OPS. He had nine doubles, three triples, six home runs, 21 RBI, 29 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

DH: Ben Malgeri – Toledo Mud Hens

Malgeri made his big league debut last night in 65 games at Toledo, where he hit .296 with a .897 OPS. He had 17 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 34 RBI, 47 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

RHP: Ty Madden – Toledo Mud Hens

Madden, in eight appearances with seven coming as starts, went 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 28 innings.

LHP: Grayson Grinsell – Lakeland Flying Tigers

Grinsell has made 11 appearances with six coming as starts. He’s 4-2 with a 5.22 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.

RP: Luke Taggart – Erie SeaWolves

Taggert is 1-0 with four saves, a 0.99 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 27.1 innings.
