West Virginia Dominates Troy on Kelly’s Big Day
The Mountaineers got on the board first in the third inning as Matthew Graveline doubled home a run. Graveline would later score on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. In the sixth, Gavin Kelly hit a three-run home run to make it 5-0. Sean Smith scored a run as well. Ben Lunsden singled home a run in the seventh. In the ninth, West Virginia put the game away as Brodie Kesser was hit by a pitch, bringing home a run. Armani Guzman doubled home two. Kelly singled home one, and Paul Schoenfeld grounded out to second, bringing home another run to make it 12-0, which was the final.
Dawson Montesa got the start for West Virginia, going 5.1 scoreless innings; he allowed two hits. He walked four and struck out six. The bullpen combined went 2.2 innings, preserving the shutout. They allowed two hits, walked three, and struck out seven. Cooper Ellingworth got the ball for Troy, going three innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out four.
Georgia Blanks Texas to Reach Final Four
After a scoreless first half of the game, Georgia broke through in the fifth as Tre Phelps doubled home a run. In the seventh, the Bulldogs added to their lead as Rylan Lujo hit a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. That was enough for Georgia to beat Texas
Dylan Vigue got the start for the Bulldogs, going four scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, walked two, and struck out eight. Justin Byrd also didn’t allow a run. He went five innings, allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four. Luke Harrison got the start for Texas, going 5.2 innings, allowing a run on two hits. He walked four and struck out 11.
