The Miami Hurricanes and Troy Trojans met in an elimination game in the Gainesville Regional. Miami beat Troy on Friday to start the tournament. The Hurricanes then lost to Florida 22-10 last night, ending up in the loser’s bracket. Troy eliminated Rider yesterday, 15-7, to advance to this game. Lazaro Collera got the ball for Miami, bringing in a 4-3 record with a 4.95 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts in 67.1 innings. Troy had Tommy Egan on the mound, bringing in his 5-5 record with a 5.52 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 88 strikeouts in 75 innings.

Miami vs. Troy
Troy opened the scoring at the top of the first with an RBI single. They added to their lead in the third with a solo home run to make it 2-0. Miami tied things up when Alex Sosa hit a two-run home run in the fourth. They added to that lead as Gabriel Milano hit a two-run single. In the fifth, Max Galvin hit a solo home run to make it 5-2. The Hurricanes weren’t done in the inning as Sosa was at it again with an RBI double.
The Trojans got a run back on a fielder’s choice. Jabe Boroff in the sixth made it 6-4 with a solo home run. The Trojans would tie the game with two more runs in the inning. In the seventh, Boroff hit a solo home run to take the lead, and then Houston Markham hit a solo home run to make it 8-6. Troy tacked on another run in the eighth with an RBI single. The Trojans would win 9-6.
Collera went three innings, allowing two runs on six hits; he walked one and struck out three. Egan went six innings, allowing six runs, four earned on seven hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out three. The rest of the Miami pitchers went five innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits; they walked two and struck out one. Troy only used Zach Crockfelt, who went 4.1 shutout innings, allowing four hits. He walked one and struck out one.

The Trojans will face the Gators tonight. If Troy wins, they’ll play a winner-take-all game tomorrow, but if the Trojans lose, their season will come to an end.
