The Nationals opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first. In the fourth, they added five more with a solo home run, a two-run single, an RBI double play, and an RBI double to make it 7-0. The Nationals got a three-run home run in the seventh to make it 10-0. The Red Sox got on the board in the eighth as Caleb Durbin drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 10-1. Nate Eaton grounded into a fielder’s choice, bringing home another run, but that was it in a 10-2 loss.
Payton Tolle lasted three innings, allowing six runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out five. Ryan Watson went two innings, allowing a run on three hits. He walked one and struck out one. Jovani Moran made his return, going 1.2 innings, allowing a run. He didn’t allow a hit, walked two, and struck out three. Alec Gamboa went 2.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He walked four and struck out one.

Willson Contreras went 2-4 with a run scored. He had a walk in the first, a single in the sixth, and a single in the eighth.
Key News & Notes
Last night, the Red Sox acquired infielder Brett Harris from the Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Ben Hansen. Harris was optioned to Triple-A Worcester.
Before today’s game, the Red Sox placed Connelly Early on the injured list and designated Tommy Kahnle for assignment. Jovani Moran was activated, and they recalled Alec Gamboa.
