Boston Red Sox Notebook: Red Sox Win, Over .500 on the Road, and More

The Boston Red Sox won the middle game of their series in Seattle, improving to 31-43. They’re 14.5 games back of the Yankees for the American League East. They’re 5.5 games back of the Blue Jays for the final spot in the American League wild card standings.

The Mariners got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single. The Red Sox would take the lead on a Wilyer Abreu two-run home run. Boston added to their lead in the sixth as Wilyer Abreu scored on a wild pitch, then Caleb Durbin and Marcelo Mayer each singled home runs to make it 5-1, which would be the final.

Connelly Early once again pitched well on the road. He went six innings, allowing a run on two hits. He walked two and struck out seven. Tyron Guerrero, Garrett Whitlock, and Danny Coulombe finished the game. They didn’t allow a run or a hit. They also didn’t allow any walks and struck out three combined.

Wilyer Abreu went 1-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Abreu was a part of three of Boston’s five runs in the win.

Kiner-Falefa, in 47 games this season, is hitting .277 with a .705 OPS. He has 33 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 13 RBI, and 19 runs scored. Seigler appeared in two games during his last stint in Boston. He hit .333 with a 1.167 OPS. He had a double. In 37 games at Worcester, he hit .290 with a .844 OPS. He had eight doubles, a triple, three home runs, 23 RBI, and 18 runs scored.
