Somerset vs. Portland
Saturday: Portland Scores Seven in Seventh in Shutout over Somerset
The SeaDogs got a sacrifice fly from Caden Rose, a two-RBI double from Franklin Arias and Brooks Brannon, and a two-run home run from Ronald Rosario. Rosario had two home runs and five RBI while Arias went 3-4 with two RBI, two runs, and two walks. Anthony Eyanson was fantastic, going five scoreless innings, allowing a hit, a walk, and striking out eight. Somerset finished with three hits; Tomas Frick had the lone extra-base hit, which was a double in the second.
Sunday: Portland Takes Rubber Match in Pitcher’s Duel
Gage Ziehl and Ben Hess were locked in a pitcher’s duel. Ziehl went five scoreless innings, allowing two hits; he walked one and struck out eight. Hess allowed a run in five innings on two hits. He walked one and struck out seven. Matt Frazier got an RBI triple to give the Sea Dogs a 1-0 lead. Jack Winnay doubled home another run to make it 2-0. Somerset got their lone run in the top of the ninth on a Coby Morales solo home run, his 16th of the year.
Akron vs. Binghamton
Saturday: Akron Scores Four in Three Separate Innings to Beat Binghamton
The RubberDucks got an RBI triple from Nolan Schubart, who scored on a wild pitch; Jose Devers singled home a run, and he stole second, leading to Aaron Walton scoring to make it 4-0. Schubart hit a grand slam in the seventh to make it 8-1. In the ninth, Christian Knapczyk drove home a run as he was hit by a pitch; Tyreese Turner cleared the bases with a triple, giving Akron a 12-3 win. Nick Lorusso hit a two-run home run in the loss for Binghamton. Rafe Schlesinger for Akron went five innings, allowing a run on five hits. He walked two and struck out seven.
Sunday: Akron Completes Sweep of Binghamton
The RubberDucks got two RBI from Nick Mitchell, along with RBI from Jaison Chourio, Jose Devers, and Bennett Thompson. Jonathan Santucci, despite allowing five runs, four earned, in 5.2 innings, struck out 13 for Binghamton. Braylon Doughty was brilliant for Akron, going five scoreless innings; he allowed two hits. Doughty didn’t issue a walk and struck out eight.
Altoona vs. Reading
Saturday: Reading Beats Altoona Behind Four-Run Sixth
Reading was already leading 4-3 when Raylin Heredia reached on a fielder’s choice, which brought home a run, and another came in on an error. Aroon Escobar singled home two runs to make it 8-3, leading to a 9-5 victory. Bryan Rincon hit a solo home run for the Fightin Phils, while Derek Berg hit a solo home run for Altoona. Adam Seminaris for Reading went five innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. He walked one and struck out four. Peyton Stumbo took the loss for the Curve, dropping to 1-9, but he struck out eight in 3.2 innings.
Sunday: Reading Wins Again to Take Series Over Altoona
Reading opened the scoring in the first with a three-run home run from Alex Binelas, his 20th home run of the season. They added four more in the fourth on an RBI double from Riley Tirotta and a three-run home run from Pedro Leon. Leon hit a solo home run in the third as Reading won 10-6. Derek Burg drove in two for Altoona with a home run in the sixth. Gage Wood got the start for the Fightin Phils, allowing two runs on two hits. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out nine.
New Hampshire vs. Harrisburg
Saturday: Petry’s Big Night Leads Senators Over Fisher Cats
Ethan Petry went 4-4 with five RBI and two runs scored in a 7-4 win over New Hampshire. He finished a triple shy of the cycle; he had a double in the second, a three-run home run in the fourth, a single in the sixth, and another single in the eighth. Alex Clemmey went four innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits. He walked two and struck out six for the Senators. Eddie Micheletti Jr. went 2-4 with two RBI and a walk for New Hampshire.
Sunday: Harrisburg Blanks Fisher Cats
All the Senators needed was a groundout from Branden Boissiere in the third to make it 1-0 and a throwing error on a pickoff attempt to make it 2-0 in their win. Jake Irvin, in a rehab stint, got the start, going 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out five. Chance Huff finished the fifth before Josh Randall got the final four innings for his first save. He allowed two hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out six. Nolan Perry got the start for New Hampshire, going 1.1 innings; he allowed no runs, two hits, no walks, and no strikeouts.
Hartford vs. Chesapeake
Saturday: Baysox Score Three in Eighth to Beat Hartford
Chesapeake trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the eighth when Brandon Butterworth singled home a run, Anderson De Los Santos drew a bases-loaded walk, and Aron Estrada singled home a run to make it 4-3. Jose Torres hit a two-run home run, and Roc Riggio hit a solo home run for Hartford. Stu Flesland III went five scoreless innings, also didn’t allow a hit, walked one, and struck out four. Sebastian Gongora got the win in relief, going four innings, allowing a run on two hits, walking one, and striking out six. Gongora improved to 8-4.
Sunday: Baysox Score Four in Final Two Innings to Beat Hartford
Chesapeake trailed 3-1 entering the seventh as Willy Vasquez doubled home two runs to tie it at 3-3. Mike Antico singled home a run to give Hartford the lead back. In the bottom of the eighth, Thomas Sosa hit a two-run home run to give the Baysox their first lead, and that would be the final as they won 5-4. Luis De Leon went 4.2 innings, allowing a run on six hits. He walked two and struck out five. Jackson Cox for Hartford went six innings, allowing a run on four hits. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out six.
Erie vs. Richmond
Saturday: Richmond Walks-Off Erie
The SeaWolves tied the game in the ninth on an RBI double from Peyton Graham, which forced the game to extras. In the home half of the tenth, Diego Velasquez singled home the game-winning run to give the Flying Squirrels a 7-6 win. E.J. Exposito hit his 16th home run of the season for Erie in the loss.
Sunday: Erie Behind Five-Run Third Takes Series
The SeaWolves went down 1-0 in the second from a Jack Payton RBI single. They would tie the game on a Peyton Graham ground-rule double. Graham would score on a passed ball. Garrett Pennington would single home another run, and E.J. Exposito would single home two more to make it 5-1 Erie. Graham would hit a solo home run in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-2. They added four more in the ninth on a grand slam from Josue Briceno. Dakota Jordan had two hits and a run scored for Richmond. Jackson Jobe made a rehab start, going three innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out three.
