They started the double-elimination portion of the tournament with a 10-0 win over Rutgers. They then lost 7-1 to Washington on Wednesday night. Yesterday, with their season on the line, they faced their biggest rival, Ohio State, and they beat the Buckeyes 3-0, ending Ohio State’s season.

In the game, the Wolverines had 19-year-old lefty pitcher Shane Brinham on the mound. The southpaw threw 124 pitches and shut down Ohio State. He allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out a season high 11. He entered the game 5-4 with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.55 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 56 innings. After last night, he’s 6-4, and he lowered his ERA to 3.88, his WHIP to 1.46, and he has 61 strikeouts in 65 innings.
The Wolverines got runs in the third and eighth. In the third inning, catcher Noah Miller singled home two runs to make it 2-0. Miller was at it again in the eighth as he singled home the game’s third run to make it 3-0, and that was final.
Michigan will look to advance to the Semifinals in the Big Ten tournament for the first time since 2024. Michigan hasn’t made the NCAA baseball tournament since 2022, when they lost to Louisville in the Louisville Regional.
