Game Recap: Red Sox Walk-off Tigers in Pitcher’s Duel

On a beautiful Friday night at Fenway, the Boston Red Sox came away with a 1-0 walk-off win over the Detroit Tigers as they began their four-game series. The game was tied at zero in the bottom of the tenth when Masataka Yoshida singled, bringing home Jarren Duran, who was placed on second base to begin the inning.

The pitching was brilliant on both sides. Ranger Suarez started things off for the Red Sox, going eight shutout innings. two hits and zero runs over eight innings, striking out four and walking one. Casey Mize, on the other side for Detroit, allowed three hits in 6.2 shutout innings. He struck out seven and walked one. Garrett Whitlock earned the win for the Red Sox, pitching a scoreless tenth. Will Vest took the loss for Detroit, allowing the winning run on the single to Yoshida. Jahmai Jones went 2-4 for the Tigers at the place while Yoshida went 1-1 as he appeared as a pinch-hitter for Caleb Durbin in the tenth.

Ranger Suarez. The southpaw was brilliant tonight and showed why he was signed to the big deal in the offseason. If he continues on this trend, the Red Sox will be in good hands throughout the course of the summer.
