Eastern League September Recap & Playoff Preview

The Eastern League regular season has wrapped up and the playoffs are beginning with the Somerset Patriots and Hartford Yard Goats facing off in the Northeast playoffs while the Erie Seawolves and the Akron RubberDucks are facing off in the Southwest part of the bracket.  

The Top Prospects

10.) RHP – Jackson Jobe – Erie SeaWolves

Jobe was promoted to Triple-A Toledo, he made just one start at Erie getting a win going seven innings giving up one run on three hits; he walked two and struck out eight. This season in 19 starts at Erie he is 4-3 with a 1.96 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and 89 strikeouts in 82.2 innings. 

11.) RHP – Chase Dollander – Hartford Yard Goats

Dollander this month two starts going 10.1 innings giving up seven runs, six earned on 11 hits; he walked five and struck out ten. This season at Hartford he’s made nine starts going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 58 strikeouts in 48 innings. He will be pitching in the postseason.

28.) 3B – Aidan Miller – Reading Fightin Phils

Miller got the call to start the month, he hit .190 with a .417 OPS; he has two RBI, one run scored, and a stolen base.

33.) RHP – Andrew Painter – Reading Fightin Phils

Painter is out for the season recovering from Tommy John.

49.) OF – Justin Crawford – Reading Fightin Phils

Crawford this month hit .410 with a 1.003 OPS; he had two doubles, a home run, six RBI, seven runs scored, three walks, and three stolen bases. This season at Reading since getting called up he’s hitting .333 with a .835 OPS; he has 11 doubles, three home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored, 11 walks, and 15 stolen bases.  

50.) OF – Bryce Eldridge – Richmond Flying Squirrels

Eldridge only appeared in nine games with Richmond where he hit .270 with a .784 OPS; he had two doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBI, four runs scored, three walks, and a stolen base.

56.) SS/OF – Jett Williams – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Williams is back he hit .163 with a .403 OPS, he had a double, an RBI, three runs scored, and two walks. This season at Double-A he played in 22 games hitting .172 with a .528 OPS; he had four doubles, a triple, three RBI, 12 runs scored, ten walks, and two stolen bases.

76.) 2B – Termarr Johnson – Altoona Curve

This month, Johnson hit .290 with a .785 OPS; he had two doubles, a home run, six RBI, seven runs scored, three walks, and a stolen base. Ending his season at Double-A he hit .229 with a .712 OPS; he had two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored, seven walks, and two stolen bases. 

77.) OF/1B – Ryan Clifford – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Clifford hit .229 with a .818 OPS; he had three doubles, three home runs, ten RBI, six runs scored, and eight walks. At Binghamton in 98 games this season he hit .231 with a .815 OPS; he had 21 doubles, 18 home runs, 58 RBI, 53 runs scored, 63 walks, and three stolen bases.

84.) 2B – Adael Amador – Hartford Yard Goats

Amador in September hit .311 with a .891 OPS; he had three doubles, two home runs, five RBI, six runs scored, five walks, and two stolen bases. At Hartford this season he hit .230 with a .719 OPS: he had 12 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 52 RBI, 61 runs scored, 62 walks, and 35 stolen bases. He’ll be in the playoffs.

85.) OF – Spencer Jones – Somerset Patriots

Jones this month hit .264 with a .932 OPS; he had five doubles, two triples, three home runs, seven RBI, 11 runs scored, five walks, and one stolen base. This season he hit .259 with a .788 OPS; he had 30 doubles, six triples, 17 home runs, 78 RBI, 73 runs scored, 54 walks, and 25 stolen bases.

90.) OF – Enrique Bradfield – Bowie Baysox

Bradfield in September hit .289 with a .785 OPS; he had two doubles, one home run, four RBI, 11 runs scored, five walks, and four stolen bases. He finished his season with a Double-A promotion where he finished hitting .287 with a .791 OPS; he had four doubles, two triples, one home run, nine RBI, 25 runs scored, 15 walks, and 15 stolen bases.

92.) RHP – Chase Hampton – Somerset Patriots

Hampton didn’t start in September due to injuries. He finished his Double-A season making two starts going 5.2 innings with a 0.00 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and four strikeouts.

HM.) 3B – Cayden Wallace – Harrisburg Senators

Wallace was acquired at the trade deadline and returned for his new team in September hitting .186 with a .431 OPS; he had a double, three RBI, six runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base.

HM.) 1B/OF – C.J. Kayfus – Akron RubberDucks

Kayfus cracks the list because of the promotion of Chase DeLauter. This month he hit .267 with a .691 OPS; he had three doubles, four RBI, four runs scored, and three walks. This season at Akron he hit .263 with a .836 OPS; he had 14 doubles, four triples, ten home runs, 55 RBI, 38 runs scored, 36 walks, and a stolen base.

HM.) RHP – Luis Perales – Portland Sea Dogs

Perales is the top-ranked prospect on the Sea Dogs roster after Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, Kyle Teel, and Kristian Campbell all got promoted, however, his season is over, he finished his time at Double-A making two starts going 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

HM.) 3B/OF – Charles McAdoo – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

McAdoo finished September hitting .098 with a .313 OPS; he had a double, four RBI, two runs scored, and three two walks. At New Hampshire this season, he hit .185 with a .610 OPS; he had six doubles, a triple, three home runs, 15 RBI, 15 runs scored, 14 walks, and four stolen bases.
