MLB Game Recap

Cincinnati suffered a 10-4 loss as the Nationals launched a season-high six home runs at Great American Ball Park. Reds starter Brady Singer (3.2 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 75 pitches) exited early after being struck on the foot by a 107-mph come-backer in the second inning. A depleted bullpen was forced to cover the final 5.1 innings. They surrendered seven additional runs. The offense’s best chance ended in the fourth. Ke’Bryan Hayes grounded into a bases-loaded double play with the Reds trailing by only one.

Standout Performer

Sal Stewart provided a rare offensive spark, finishing 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Stewart’s consistent hard contact helped build Cincinnati’s early momentum. However, the team ultimately struggled as a whole. They finished just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Key News & Notes

The Reds officially placed right-hander Rhett Lowder on the 15-day injured list before Tuesday’s game because he experienced shoulder discomfort. X-rays were clean. However, the move is a precaution to ensure his long-term health. Manager Terry Francona noted that Brady Singer is “real tender.” He is limping following his foot injury. Fortunately, initial imaging was negative. In positive news, Hunter Greene is expected to throw his first bullpen session around May 22. Eugenio Suárez began taking cage swings yesterday. He is nearing a return from an oblique strain.

Farm Report

  • Louisville Bats (AAA): Edwin Arroyo went 2-for-4. He hit his eighth home run. Arroyo also scored two runs in a 10-8 loss to Indianapolis.
  • Chattanooga Lookouts (AA): Carlos Jorge finished 2-for-5. He hit a solo home run. This accounted for the only run in a 4-1 defeat against Pensacola.
  • Dayton Dragons (A+): Alfredo Duno went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk. However, the Dragons’ six-game winning streak ended. They lost 9-3 to Lake County.
  • Daytona Tortugas (A): Tuesday’s game was postponed due to rain. The club will play a doubleheader this afternoon starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.
  • ACL Reds (ROK): Ty Floyd was dominant in his 2026 debut, tossing 3.0 shutout innings with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed in a 6-4 win.

Looking Ahead

The Reds continue their homestand tonight at 6:40 p.m. ET, sending LHP Nick Lodolo (0-1, 6.75 ERA) to the mound against Washington right-hander Jake Irvin (1-4, 5.22 ERA).

The rotation injuries are piling up. The Reds’ bats must find a way to capitalize on scoring opportunities. This is necessary to keep the season on track. What do you think?
