MLB Game Recap
Cincinnati’s offense stalled at PNC Park. The team recorded only three hits in a 9-1 rout. They went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Starter Brady Singer took the loss, posting a line of 3.1 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, and 1 K on 56 pitches after surrendering two early home runs. The Pirates broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning against reliever Zach Maxwell. The Reds’ only run came through an Elly De La Cruz groundout in the sixth.
Standout Performer
TJ Friedl was the driving force behind the Reds’ limited offense. He finished 2-for-4 with a double. He also scored the team’s only run. In the sixth inning, Friedl hit a double that sparked Cincinnati’s lone run. He eventually crossed the plate to break the shutout. This provided a rare highlight on a night when the rest of the starting lineup went hitless.
Key News & Notes
The Reds placed left-hander Brandon Williamson on the 15-day IL due to shoulder fatigue. However, an MRI revealed no structural damage. The club recalled right-hander Zach Maxwell from Triple-A Louisville to fill the roster spot. Nick Lodolo will make a rehab start for Louisville today.
