Boston Red Sox Notes: Kiner-Falefa Does All He Can, Affiliates All Win, and More

The Boston Red Sox fell to 22–31 after dropping their series opener to the Atlanta Braves. They’re 12.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for the American League East. They’re three games back of the Twins for the final spot in the American League wild card standings.

The Red Sox opened the game with back-to-back home runs from Jarren Duran and Ceddanne Rafaela to make it 2-0. The Braves tied it with a two-run shot in the fifth. Atlanta would add to their lead in the sixth with three runs, making it 5-2. The Red Sox got one back in the home half of the sixth as Mickey Gasper drove home a run. In the bottom of the seventh, Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit a solo home run to make it a one-run game. The Braves got another home run with a two-run shot. Kiner-Falefa drove home two more to make it 7-6, but the Red Sox couldn’t bring home the tying run. Ranger Suarez went five innings, allowing five runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out four.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa did everything he could to try bringing this team back with his solo home run to make it a one run game then his two run double to make it a one run game once again.

Key News & Notes

The lineup is turning around as they more than three runs or more for the sixth game in their last seven. The problem is as the hitting gets going the pitching falters. During the seven games they’re averaging 4.7 runs per game while allowing 4.3 runs per game. Marcelo Mayer was once again at shortstop in tonight’s game and looked good over there.
