The Boston Red Sox dropped to 18-25 last night. They’re 10.5 games back of the Rays for first place in the American League East. They’re three games back of the Seattle Mariners for the final spot in the American League wild card standings.

MLB Game Recap

The Red Sox got a briliant pitching performance from Ranger Suarez as he shut down the Phillies lineup. The Phillies got a two-run home run in the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie. They added another run in the inning to make it 3-0. The Red Sox would get a run in the bottom half but they couldn’t comeback and lost the series.

Standout Performer

Andruw Monasterio led the Red Sox going 2-4 with both hits come as a double and he scored the lone run for the Red Sox in the loss.

Ranger Suarez’s last start came 11 days ago and he left that start. Last night he went 5.1 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits, walked one, and struck out eight. The 2-3-4 hitters in the game in Monasterio, Wilyer Abreu, and Willson Conteras combined to go 5-12 with the lone Red Sox run.
