Game Recap: Gray Strugges; Red Sox Shut Out

The Boston Red Sox had trouble keeping up with the Minnesota Twins in a 6-0 loss tonight. The Twins got on the board in the first inning after Luke Keaschall singled, scoring one run. The Twins added a run in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Byron Buxton. Buxton added to the Twins’ lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth.

Mick Abel got the win for the Twins. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking none. Sonny Gray took the loss for the Red Sox. The righty went four innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits, striking out one, and walking one. Jack Anderson was the story for Boston tonight. He made his debut, going three innings, allowing a run on a hit. He struck out four and walked one.

Roman Anthony and Masataka Yoshida each collected two hits for the Red Sox. The Twins piled up 10 hits in the game. Buxton set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Twins with four hits in five at-bats. Keaschall collected two hits for the Twins in four at-bats.

Byron Buxton had a big day at the plate for the Twins. He went 4-5 with two solo home runs and added four runs scored.
