Skenes gets the ball for the USA. In his only start this spring for the Pirates he went 2.1 innings. He allowed a run on a hit. Skenes walked four and struck out four. Last season in 32 starts for the Pirates he went 10-10. He posted a 1.97 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and had 216 strikeouts in 187.2 innings. Skenes went on to win the National League Cy Young.

He was acquired at the trade deadline from the New York Mets. He made his big league debut last season for the Mets.
