The Boston Red Sox today start a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. They’re coming off a series loss to the San Diego Padres, in which they lost two out of three. They won the first game, the home opener, but lost Saturday and Sunday. Ahead of tonight’s game, they announced they’ve activated right-handed pitcher Garrett Whitlock from the paternity list. To make room for Whitlock, they’ve optioned right-handed pitcher Tyler Uberstine to Triple-A Worcester.

Garrett Whitlock

Whitlock, in three appearances this season, has yet to allow a run. He has given up two hits, walked two, and struck out four. In four spring appearances, he went 1-0 without allowing a run on a hit, didn’t issue a walk, and struck out three. 

Tyler Uberstine 

Uberstine suffered the loss in his lone appearance, which came yesterday. He allowed a run on three hits in 2.2 innings. He walked one and struck out two. Uberstine made one start, at Triple-A, went four innings, allowing a run on two hits. He walked one and struck out three. Uberstine made four appearances this spring, going 0-2 with a 6.14 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 7.1 innings. He is the Red Sox 15th ranked prospect.
