The first half of the International League has come to a close, with the Memphis Redbirds taking the playoff spot with their win yesterday. So, who were the top players at each position in the first half?

C – Kody Huff – Columbus Clippers

Huff, in 60 games this season, is hitting .288 with a .922 OPS. He has 12 doubles, three triples, ten home runs, 47 RBI, and 45 runs scored. He’s 11th in OPS in the league.

Honorable Mention: Cooper Ingle – Columbus Clippers

1B – Miguel Toglia – Louisville Bats

Toglia is hitting .257 with an .896 OPS. He has 17 doubles, a triple, 18 home runs, 52 RBI, and 41 runs scored. He’s third in the International League in home runs and tied for third in RBI.

Honorable Mention: Abimelec Ortiz – Rochester Red Wings

2B – Rikuu Nishida – Charlotte Knights

Nishida hit .329 at Triple-A with a .801 OPS. He had four doubles, a home run, 15 RBI, and 41 runs scored.

Honorable Mention: Oliver Dunn – Durham Bulls

3B – Yohandy Morales – Rochester Red Wings

Morales is hitting .320 with a .951 OPS. He has 12 doubles, 16 home runs, 47 RBI, and 53 runs scored. He’s fourth in the league in average, fifth in OPS, and tied for seventh in home runs.

Honorable Menton: BJ Murray – Iowa Cubs

SS – Jacob Gonzalez – Charlotte Knights

Gonzalez, in 52 games at Triple-A, hit .317 with a 1.088 OPS. He had 11 doubles, a triple, 19 home runs, 62 RBI, and 42 runs scored. He’s second in the league in home runs and OPS, second in RBI, and fifth in batting average.

Honorable Mention: Kaelen Culpepper – St. Paul Saints

OF – Felix Reyes – Lehigh Valley IronPigs

Reyes, in 46 games, is hitting .310 with a .960 OPS. He had 12 doubles, 17 home runs, 47 RBI, and 35 runs scored. He’s tied for fourth in the league in home runs and fourth in OPS.

OF – Joshua Baez – Memphis Redbirds

Baez is hitting .274 with a .969 OPS. He has 14 doubles, three triples, 25 home runs, 64 RBI, and 56 runs scored. He leads the league in home runs, RBI, and is third in OPS.

OF – Hector Rodriguez – Louisville Bats

Rodriguez is hitting .292 with a .908 OPS. He has 13 doubles, four triples, 17 home runs, 49 RBI, and 59 runs scored. He’s tied for fourth in home runs and leads the league in runs scored.

Honorable Mention: Kevin Alcantara – Iowa Cubs

DH – Jose Barrero – Norfolk Tides

Barrero is hitting .231 with a .859 OPS. He has nine doubles, a triple, 17 home runs, 37 RBI, and 41 runs scored. He’s fourth in the league in home runs.

RHP – Brendan Beck – Scranton/Wilkes/Barre RailRiders

Beck is 7-2 with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 81 innings. He leads the league in strikeouts and is tied for the lead in wins; he’s second in WHIP.

Honorable Mention: Nestor German – Norfolk Tides

LHP Quinn Mathews – Memphis Redbirds

Mathews is 4-3 in 14 starts with a 4.01 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts in 60.2 innings. He’s fifth in strikeouts.

Honorable Mention: Hagen Smith – Charlotte Knights

RP Franco Aleman – Columbus Clippers

Aleman is 3-1 with eight saves, a 0.36 ERA, a 0.60 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts in 24.2 innings.
