Game Recap: Red Sox Win First Game of Chad Tracy Era

The Boston Red Sox took the series finale this afternoon over the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 as they won the series. It’s been a strange 24 hours as Red Sox manager Alex Cora was fired last night, and Chad Tracy, the interim manager, coached his first big league game today.

The Red Sox jumped out to the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Andruw Monasterio singled home a run, and then Willson Contreras hit a two-run home run. Samuel Basallo hit a solo home run to right field to get Baltimore on the board. The Red Sox added two more runs in the sixth. The first came on a Ceddanne Rafaela triple, and Marcelo Mayer singled home Rafaela. The Orioles added another run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run by Gunnar Henderson. The Red Sox stole a season high four bases as Caleb Durbin stole two, and Mayer along with Jarren Duran each stole one.

Connelly Early earned the win for Boston. The left allowed four hits and two runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Kyle Bradish took the loss for Baltimore. The righty went five innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out three, and walking four. Aroldis Chapman got his fifth save of the season.

Ceddanne Rafaela led the Red Sox in hits with two on a double in the second and then his triple in the sixth, driving in a run, and then he scored a run.
