Geraldo Perdomo would walk then Gabriel Moreno hit into a force out for the first out of the inning but Marte scored. Alek Thomas would hit into a force out for the second out of the inning.

Kenley Jansen replaced Vest inheriting runners on the corners. Thomas stole second then Fernandez continued his tear on his debut with a three-run home run to give Arizona a 7-5 lead.
