The Tigers jumped out to an early lead behind home runs from Kerry Carpenter, Riley Greene, and Spencer Torkelson. Torkelson’s was a two-run home run. The Yankees got one back with a solo home run. In the third, Greene hit a two-run home run to make it 6-1. In the sixth, the Tigers blew it open with a three-run home run from James Outman. The Yankees did get one back in the bottom half on an RBI groundout. The Yankees did score in the ninth, but the Tigers won again this time, 9-3.
Skubal went six innings, allowing two runs, one earned on a hit. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out nine. Jacob Waguespack went two scoreless innings, allowing a hit, no walks, and struck out two. Tyler Holton got the ninth, allowing a run on two hits. He walked one and didn’t record a strikeout.

Riley Greene went 2-4 with two home runs and three RBI in the win.
