The Chicago Cubs went out today needing a starting pitcher and acquired left-handed pitcher David Peterson in exchange for minor league infielder Cole Mathis. It’s an overall interesting trade for the Mets, who move a pitcher after they announced that Kodai Senga would be moving to the bullpen. This now has their starting rotation at Freddy Peralta, Nolan McLean, and Sean Manaea. Clay Holmes and Christian Scott are on the injured list. This now gives the Cubs a rotation of Shota Imanan, Colin Rea, and Javier Assad.
