Miami Marlins & Minnesota Twins Make A Trade

The Miami Marlins are off today as they head to the Bronx to start a three-game series this weekend against the New York Yankees. The Twins today picked up a 5-1 win in their series finale against the Kansas City Royals as they open their season at home tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Rays. Today, following the Twins game, they acquired right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton in exchange for right-handed pitcher Logan Whitaker. The Twins also transferred right-handed pitcher David Festa from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with right shoulder impingement.

Garrett Acton

Acton was designated for assignment earlier this week. In six spring games, he didn’t allow an earned run; he did allow a run. He also didn’t allow a hit, walked four, and struck out six. He’s appeared in two games at Triple-A Jacksonville this season, going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

Logan Whitaker

The Twins drafted Whitaker in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He appeared in four games this spring. Whitaker didn’t allow a run on three hits. He walked two and struck out three. Last season, he pitched at High-A and Double-A, making 25 appearances, going 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts in 38.1 innings.

David Festa

Festa last season made 11 appearances, with ten coming as starts, with the Twins going 3-4. He posted a 5.40 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 53.1 innings.
