The Portland Sea Dogs wrapped up a series with the Reading Fightin Phils, going 2-4. They’re currently 31-31, sitting four games back of first place in the Eastern League’s Northeast division. The Sea Dogs have many of the top Red Sox prospects, but their 26th-ranked prospect, their top catching prospect in their system, Johanfran Garcia, was named MiLB’s Eastern League Player of the Week for last week. Garcia appeared in all six games, recording a hit in each game. He hit .519 with 1.425 OPS. He had four doubles, two home runs, ten RBI, and four runs scored. Garcia, this season, in 36 games, is hitting .309 with a .927 OPS. He has six doubles, 11 home runs, 31 RBI, 22 runs scored, a stolen base, and eight walks.

Johanfran Garcia
Garcia joined the Red Sox organization in 2022. He played in 40 games for their DSL team in rookie ball. Garcia hit .268 with a .700 OPS. He had seven doubles, a triple, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored, and 21 walks. In year two, he appeared in rookie ball for their Florida Complex team and Single-A Salem. In 57 games, he hit .274 with a .815 OPS. He had 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 37 RBI, 29 runs scored, six stolen bases, and 24 walks.
In 2024, he appeared in 14 games at Salem. He hit .385 with a 1.063 OPS. He had five doubles, two home runs, five RBI, five runs scored, and six walks. Last season, he played in 58 games at rookie ball and High-A Greenville. Garcia hit .261 with a .792 OPS. He had seven doubles, 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 37 runs scored, a stolen base, and 19 walks.
