The Red Sox scored first as Jarren Durran led off the game with a triple and Wilyer Abreu drove him home a sacrifice fly. The Orioles got a solo home run in the second to tie the game at 1-1. The Orioles took the lead with a two-run home run to make it 3-1. They added another run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Marcelo Mayer made it 4-2 with a sacrifice fly, but that was it, and the Red Sox lost 4-2.
Connelly Early went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six. Greg Weissert and Tyler Samaniego combined to go 3.2 shutout innings, allowing just three hits, walking one, and striking out five.
