The Toronto Blue Jays are coming off a series split with the New York Yankees and will now face the Houston Astros for a four-game series that starts tonight. The Blue Jays enter play today 38-45 and are 14.5 games back for the American League East division lead and 7.5 games back of the Wild Card, there are 13 games left before the All-Star break before the conversation begins to either sell or stay pat. Today they placed catcher Danny Jansen on the paternity list and recalled catcher Brian Serven from Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays Roster Moves By The Numbers

C – Danny Jansen

Jansen was drafted in the 16th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of West High School in Appleton, Wisconsin. He has played in 459 games for Toronto hitting .224 with a .740 OPS; he has 72 doubles, one triple, 70 home runs, 212 RBI, 198 runs scored, one stolen base, and 146 walks. This season he’s played in 50 games hitting .227 with a .714 OPS; he has 13 doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 20 walks.

C- Brian Serven

Serven was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays on January 16, 2024. He’s played in seven games going 0-8 with a walk and a run scored. In Buffalo this season he has played in 34 games hitting .270 with a .787 OPS; he has five doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI, 17 runs scored, and 24 walks.
