Texas Rangers Unveil World Series Ring

The Texas Rangers unveiled the 2023 World Series Championship rings on their social media accounts on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, ahead of the Ring Ceremony before tonight’s game. The Texas Rangers were the ROAD Warriors during the 2023 Postseason, going a record 11-0 on the road. The 2023 regular season was full of ups and downs for the resilient Rangers. After leading the American League West for most of the season, the team slipped into a slump. The team lost the Division pennant in the final days of the regular season, earning only a Wild Card berth, when they dropped the season finale to the Seattle Mariners. They boarded the plane that night to head for Tampa Bay and the beginning of their record-breaking road trip that would take them from coast to coast and across four time zones.

Every element of the World Series Ring holds special significance to the franchise. The top of the ring features the Texas Rangers iconic T on a blue background comprised of 103 Blue Sapphires symbolizing the 103 wins during 2023 regular and postseason. The T is shadowed with 23 Red Rubies representing the year 2023, the year the Rangers won their first World Series Championship. Inside the T lie eleven stones to represent the eleven road wins in the postseason. Around the blue background are thirty stones, representing the thirty home runs hit during the postseason. Below those stones are the words ‘World Champions.’ Within Champions, you will find 52 diamonds that honor the 52 years of the franchise in Texas.

The top of the ring is removable, and the logo face is reversible. The second face is a red T comprised of 49 Rubies to symbolize the 49 players who appeared on the 2023 roster. The piece that keeps the logo in place is lined with leather from game-used balls from the 2023 World Series wins. On the opposite side is an inscription: ‘This remarkable Postseason journey began with a 2,520-mile flight from Seattle to Tampa. Then to Baltimore. Houston. And ended in Arizona with the franchise’s first world championship, thanks to a road record of 11-0. Amazing. Historic. Perfect.’. The base of the ring holds a map of the United States, tracking the team’s road victories across the country. ROAD is spelled out with the logo of each team the Rangers faced during the Postseason (Rays, Orioles, Astros, Diamondbacks). Below the map is the inscription ‘MLB Postseason Records: Most Road Wins. Longest Road Winning Streak’.

Turning to the side, sixteen Emerald Cut Diamonds adorn the space between ‘World’ and ‘Champion,’ recognizing the sixteen consecutive postseason games the Rangers homered in. Directly below those diamonds are 72 smaller diamonds, symbolizing 1972, the franchise’s first year in Texas. Below that are the words ‘Texas’ and ‘Rangers,’ between which lies a tiny reproduction of Globe Life’s rafters. One side features the player’s name, their number, and three diamonds representing the three pillars of the team: Compete with Passion, Be a Good Teammate, and Dominate the Fundamentals. On the opposite side dwells ‘Went and Took It’ and the year 2023, along with the Commissioner’s Trophy and a ball made of a 3mm diamond representing the Rangers’ first World Series championship and third league championship. Lining the band is 2.23 carats of diamonds, representing the 223 home runs hit during the regular season. On the inside of the ring, an inscription of the player’s signature is found on the smallest portion of the ring. Opposite the signature are the postseason series results and the clubhouse motto, ‘As One.’

The first ring that the club presented was to long-time PA announcer Chuck Morgan. Mr. Morgan has been with the team for 41 of the last 42 seasons and has announced the starting lineups of 3,244 consecutive MLB games. He had a hand in creating the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, to which he was inducted in 2021, and is credited for creating Captain, the Rangers mascot. Chuck Morgan is a vital member of the organization, and I hope that he is around for many more years to come. As Mr. Morgan says before every game, “It’s Baseball Time in Texas!”
