Series Recap: Texas Rangers at Milwaukee Brewers 6/24-6/26

The Texas Rangers started a seven-game road trip with a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at the American Family Field. The Rangers and Brewers faced each other from Monday to Wednesday. The American Family Field is best known for its Famous Sausage Race with the Famous Racing Sausages of Bratwurst, Polish, Italian, Hot Dog, and Chorizo. Monday, June 24

The Rangers dropped a 6-3 decision to the Brewers in the series opener. Texas fell to 37-41, while Milwaukee improved to 46-33. Rangers starting pitcher Michael Lorenzen pitched five innings and gave up five hits, two earned runs, one walk, and five strikeouts. Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta also pitched five innings but gave up four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and six strikeouts. After four scoreless innings, Texas got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. Marcus Semien singled on a line drive to Jackson Chourio. Jonah Heim scored for a 1-0 lead. Leody Taveras went to second base. Corey Seager singled on a line drive to Chourio. Taveras scored for a 2-0 lead. Semien went to third base. The Brewers got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Michael Lorenzen threw a wild pitch. Jackson Chourio scored to cut the Rangers’ lead in half, 2-1. Blake Perkins went to third base. The Rangers tacked on a run in the top of the sixth inning. Adolis Garcia homered on a line drive to right-center field for a 3-1 lead. The Brewers took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Rhys Hoskins hit a grand slam to left field. William Contreras, Christian Yelich, and Willy Adames scored for a 5-3 lead. Andrew Monasterio singled on a fly ball to Leody Taveras. Blake Perkins scored for a 6-3 lead. The Rangers lost to the Brewers 6-3 after nine innings. Adolis Garcia went 2-for-4 for Texas with one home run, walk, and strikeout. And, for Milwaukee, Trevor Megill pitched one inning and gave up two strikeouts.

Tuesday, June 25

The Rangers dropped a 3-1 decision to the Brewers in the middle game. Texas fell to 37-42, while Milwaukee improved to 47-33. Rangers starting pitcher Andrew Heaney pitched five innings and gave up six hits, two earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. Brewers starting pitcher Hoby Milner pitched just two innings and gave up two hits, one earned run, and two strikeouts before exiting the game. The Rangers quickly got on the board in the top of the first inning. Josh Smith singled on a ground ball to Blake Perkins. Corey Seager scored for an early 1-0 lead. The Brewers tied the game at one apiece in the bottom of the third inning. Jackson Chourio singled on a line drive to Adolis Garcia. William Contreras scored to tie the game 1-1. The Brewers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Joey Ortiz homered on a fly ball to left field to make it a 2-1 game. The Brewers tacked on a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rhys Hoskins singled on a ground ball to Leodys Taveras. Christian Yelich scored to make it a 3-1 game. The Rangers lost to the Brewers 3-1 after nine innings. For Texas, Wyatt Langford went 0-for-4 with one strikeout. And, for Milwaukee, Elvis Peguero pitched one inning and gave up one strikeout.

Wednesday, June 26

The Rangers dropped a 6-5 decision to the Brewers in the tenth inning of the rubber match. Texas fell to 37-43, while Milwaukee improved to 48-33. Texas got swept by Milwaukee, who handed the former their third straight loss. Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi pitched seven innings and gave up nine hits, five earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts. Brewers starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel pitched four innings and gave up eight hits, five earned runs, one walk, and four strikeouts. After one scoreless inning, Texas got on the board in the top of the second inning. Nathaniel Lowe singled on a line drive to Christian Yelich. Adolis Garcia scored for a 1-0 lead. Wyatt Langford went to second base. The Brewers took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Jake Bauers hits a grand slam to center field. Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich, and Willy Adames scored for a 4-1 lead. The Rangers made it a one-run game, tied the game at four apiece, and took the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Nathaniel Lowe homered on a fly ball to left center field. Wyatt Langford scored to pull the team within one, 4-3. Jonah Heim homered on a fly ball to left center field to tie the game 4-4. Robbie Grossman singled on a line drive to Sal Frelick. Davis Wendzel scored to give the team a 5-4 lead. The Brewers tied the game at five apiece in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jackson Chourio hit an inside-the-park home run on a line drive to center field to tie the game 5-5. The game remained tied at five apiece, which resulted in extra innings. The Brewers scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning. Andruw Monasterio singled on a sharp line drive to Derek Hill. Willy Adames scored for a 6-5 lead. Rhys Hoskins went to third base. The Rangers lost to the Brewers 6-5 after nine innings. For Texas, Jacob Latz pitched 2/3 of an inning. And, for Milwaukee, Andruw Monasterio went 1-for-2 with one hit, one RBI, and one strikeout.
