
Brooks Lee was born in San Luis Obispo, California, on February 14, 2001. He played high school baseball at San Luis Obispo High School in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was the first-ranked shortstop and the second-ranked overall player in California.
In his sophomore year, Lee hit .438. He had 42 hits, six doubles, one triple, one home run, 18 RBI, and 22 runs scored. In his junior year, he hit .462 with 48 hits, nine doubles, three triples, three home runs, 35 RBI, and 30 runs scored. In his senior year, he hit .405 with 32 hits, 13 doubles, two home runs, 25 RBI, and 26 runs scored. He finished his high school career hitting .437 with 122 hits, 28 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 78 RBI, and 78 runs scored. He also pitched, making five appearances, going 1-1 with a 0.00 ERA, one save, and 11 strikeouts.
Lee was ranked the eighth shortstop in the country and the 26th-ranked overall player. He committed to play college baseball at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly).

Over the Summer, he played for three different summer leagues. In 2019, he played for Corvallis of the West Coast League, slashing .343/.420/.466 with a .886 OPS. Lee was initially drafted in 2019 in the 35th round by the San Francisco Giants. He chose to attend Cal Poly instead. In 2022, he entered the draft as the fifth-ranked prospect. The Minnesota Twins took him with the eighth overall pick.

During Lee’s first season in the Twins organization, he played for the rookie ball team, High-A Cedar Rapids, and Double-A Wichita, where he combined to slash .303/.389/.451 with a .839 OPS; he had six doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored, and 16 walks in 31 games.
2023
Lee entered last season as the 45th-ranked prospect by Baseball American and the 31st prospect by MLB.com. He played for Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul, where he played in 125 games and slashed .275/.347/.461 with a .808 OPS; he had 39 doubles, three triples, 16 home runs, 84 RBI, 83 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 56 walks.

Lee ranked as the 35th prospect by Baseball America and the 18th by MLB Pipeline. He appeared at four levels playing for the Twins rookie league team, Single-A Fort Myers, Triple-A St. Paul, and with the Twins. In five games at rookie ball, he hit .450 with a 1.026 OPS. Lee had two doubles, two RBI, and five runs scored. In Single-A he hit .333 with a .818 OPS in five games. He had a double, three RBI, and two runs scored. Lee played in 25 games at Triple-A hitting .308 with a .974 OPS. He had seven doubles, eight home runs, 25 RBI, and 22 runs scored. Lee played in 50 games for the Twins hitting .221 with a .585 OPS.
