The Yard Goats entered tonight, averaging 4.3 runs per game in the series, while the Fisher Cats are also averaging 4.3 runs per game. Hartford and New Hampshire are in a heated battle for first place in the Eastern League’s Northeast Division, along with the Somerset Patriots. The winner at the end of the first half clinches a playoff spot. The Yard Goats had Jack Mahoney on the mound, bringing in a 2-0 record with a 1.08 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings. Jake Bloss got the ball for New Hampshire. He’s the Blue Jays ‘ seventh-ranked prospect, and it was his first start at Double-A New Hampshire.

Fisher Cats vs. Yard Goats
The Yard Goats opened the scoring in the bottom of the first as Dylan Jorge stole home. The Yard Goats added to their lead in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer from Zach Kokoska. His seventh of the year. The Rockies’ tenth-ranked prospect Roc Riggio doubled home Jorge to add to Hartford’s lead, making it 4-0. The Fisher Cats climbed back in the seventh. The Blue Jays 11th-ranked prospect Victor Arias hit a solo home run to make it 4-1. Aaron Parker then homered to make it 4-2. Jackson Hornung grounded into a fielder’s choice, but it brought home a run to make it 4-3. The Yard Goat added to their lead in the eighth. Bryant Bethancourt doubled and advanced to third on a throwing error. He would then score on a single by the Rockies’ 21st-ranked prospect Cole Messina.
Mahoney went five scoreless innings and was impressive, allowing just one base runner and striking out ten. He lowered his ERA to 0.83 following tonight’s game. Bloss went 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out six.
