Los Angeles Dodgers News and Notes

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 4-0-1 to kick off Spring Training. They tied the Angels on Saturday. Yesterday the Dodgers had a very productive day making some moves.

It started with a trade between the Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins as Manuel Margot and prospect Rayne Doncon were sent to the Twins for their prospect Noah Miller. The trade of Margot things up for the Dodgers to bring back Kike Hernandez as they signed him to a one-year, $4 million contract. Dave Roberts said he will play against lefties and will play all over the field.

Aside from the additions it was announced that the Dodgers would be hiring Matt Kemp in a special advisory role. Kemp spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Dodgers before signing with the San Diego Padres. He would return to the Dodgers in 2018 but would sign elsewhere in 2019. Kemp finished his career as a three-time All-Star, a two-time Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winner, he would finish second in MVP voting in 2011. The only players on the 2024 Dodgers roster Kemp played with are Chris Taylor, Kike Hernandez, Max Muncy, Austin Barnes, Walker Buehler, and Clayton Kershaw.

The Dodgers two prized off-season signings are set to make their Spring debuts for their new team. Shohei Ohtani will make his debut today when the Dodgers take on the Chicago White Sox. On Wednesday Yoshinobu Yamamoto will make his debut for the Dodgers when they take on the defending World Series Champion Texas Rangers.
