The Kansas City Royals are preparing to face the San Francisco Giants. They will compete in a three-game series starting today, Monday, May 19th. The Royals have a 26-22 record. They are 4th in the AL Central, five and a half games behind the Detroit Tigers. Ahead of their series opener with the Giants, they have announced two roster moves. They have activated one from the paternity list and designated a catcher for assignment.

Taylor Clarke

The Kansas City Royals have activated right-hand reliever Taylor Clarke from the paternity list today. This activation comes ahead of their game against the Giants. Clarke returns to the bullpen in a crucial series against one of the best teams in baseball in the Giants. So far this year he has pitched in 5.1 innings over five games. Clarke has one win, a 0.00 ERA, and a 0.56 WHIP on the year. He has held opponents to a .158 batting average against this year. Clarke has yet to walk a better and has struck out three during his time with the Royals.

Luke Maile

The Kansas City Royals have designated catcher Luke Maile for assignment today. He played in three games for the Royals with a .375 batting average and a 1.250 OPS. Maile had one home run and two RBI while up with the Royals. In Triple-A Maile played in 12 games for the Omaha Storm Chasers this year. He has a .286 batting average with one home run, one double, and 10 RBI.
