Game Recap: Late Schwarber Homer Gives Phillies Series Win

In the finale tonight at Fenway Park, it was a pitchers’ duel as two lefties went toe-to-toe. Ranger Suarez for Boston and Jesus Luzardo for Philadelphia.

The Phillies got the big blow as Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth. Philadelphia added another run in the inning to make it 3-0. The Red Sox got their run on an RBI single by Wilyer Abreu that drove home Andruw Monasterio.

Brad Keller earned the win for Philadelphia. The righty gave up one hit, struck out two in an inning of relief. Tyler Samaniego took the loss for Boston. The southpaw went one-third of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out none, and walking none. Suarez started on the bump for the Red Sox. The lefty allowed four hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking one. Luzardo surrendered four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Jhoan Duran earned the save.

Kyle Schwarber went 1-5, but the one hit was the big blow as it was a two-run home run in a scoreless ball game.
