Eastern League June Recap

The Eastern League in June wrapped up their first half with the Erie Seawolves the affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and the Hartford Yard Goats the affiliate of the Colorado Rockies taking home first-half crowns and clinching a playoff spot in the 2024 Eastern League Playoffs. The Seawolves finished 38-29 while the Yard Goats finished 38-30; the Yard Goats were the only team in the Northeast to finish with a positive run differential as they were +11, and the Seawolves finished the first half at +95.

The Top Prospects

8.) SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs

Mayer finished June hitting a .333 average, and a .882 OPS; he had six doubles, one home run, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, 14 walks, and four stolen bases. This season he is hitting .301 with a .833 OPS; he has seven home runs, 36 RBI, 55 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.

12.) C – Samuel Basallo – Bowie Baysox

Basallo in June hitting .284 with a .894 OPS; he had eight doubles, four home runs, ten RBI, 14 runs scored, ten walks, and three stolen bases. This season he is hitting .273 with a .790 OPS; he has 12 home runs, 38 RBI, 41 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.

15.) OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony finished June hitting .250 with a .905 OPS; he had four doubles, a triple, five home runs, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored, seven walks, and a stolen base. This season he is hitting .241 with a .795 OPS; he has ten home runs, 27 RBI, 38 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.

18.) RHP – Andrew Painter – Reading Fightin Phils

Painter is done for the season recovering from Tommy John.

19.) OF – Chase DeLauter – Akron RubberDucks

DeLauter is on the 7-day injured list and hasn’t played since May 28th.

28.) C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel last month hit .314 with a .849 OPS; he had four doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI, 17 runs scored, eight walks, and two stolen bases. This season he is hitting .303 with an .852 OPS; he has eight home runs, 49 RBI, 53 runs scored, and six stolen bases.

34.) SS/OF – Jett Williams – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Williams is currently on the 7-day injured list and hasn’t played since April 21st.

36.) 3B – Brady House – Harrisburg Senators

House in June hit .230 with a .724 OPS; he had six doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases. This season at Double-A he hit .234 with a .733 OPS; he had 11 doubles, one triple, 13 home runs, 34 RBI, 38 runs scored, 24 walks, and five stolen bases. He is now with Triple-A Harrisburg.

58.) OF – Yanquiel Fernandez – Hartford Yard Goats

Fernandez in June hit .247 with a .717 OPS; he had four doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBI, eight runs scored, and eight walks. This season he is hitting .275 with a .761 OPS; he has eight home runs, 42 RBI, 29 runs scored, and a stolen base.

64.) RHP – Bubba Chandler – Altoona Curve

Chandler made five appearances with four coming as starts in June going 3-1 with a 2.49 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 25.1 innings. This season he is 5-5 with a 3.53 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts in 63.2 innings.

66.) LHP – Anthony Solometo – Altoona Curve

Solometo is currently on the development list but in June he made four starts going 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in nine innings.

68.) OF – Spencer Jones – Somerset Patriots

Jones last month hit .296 with a .901 OPS; he had seven doubles, one triple, six home runs, 29 RBI, 19 runs scored, ten walks, and five stolen bases. This season he is hitting .237 with a .718 OPS; he has ten home runs, 46 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases.

72.) RHP – Chase Hampton – Somerset Patriots

Hampton is on the 60-day injured list with a UCL Sprain.

79.) OF/1B – Ryan Clifford – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Clifford last month hit .203 with a 1.009 OPS; he had four doubles, eight home runs, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored, 21 walks, and one stolen base. This season he is hitting .217 with a .806 OPS; he has 11 home runs, 37 RBI, 43 runs scored, and two stolen bases.

86.) 1B/3B – Yohandy Morales – Harrisburg Senators

Morales is on the 7-day injured list and hasn’t played since May 18th.

Thompson last month hit .175 with a .583 OPS; he had two doubles, four home runs, nine RBI, ten runs scored, five walks, and three stolen bases. This season he is hitting .244 with a .712 OPS; he has eight home runs, 29 RBI, 44 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.

99.) RHP – Brandon Sproat – Binghamton Rumble Ponies

Sproat in June made four starts going 2-0 with a 1.99 ERA, a 0.84 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 22.2 innings. This season in 14 appearances with 13 starts he is 6-1 with a 1.71 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and 85 strikeouts in 73.2 innings.

HM.) OF – Vaun Brown – Richmond Flying Squirrels

Brown is currently on the development list but in June he played in three games going 0-9 with an RBI. This season he is hitting .120 with a .425 OPS; he has three home runs, ten RBI, 14 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

HM.) LHP – Adam Macko – New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Macko is on the 7-day injured list. In June he made five starts going 2-1 with a 5.60 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. This season in 15 starts he is 5-4 with a 4.42 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 77.1 innings.

HM.) RHP – Troy Melton – Erie Seawolves

With Jobe out in June, Melton will represent the Seawolves as the top prospect currently playing there, in June he made five starts going 3-1 with a 3.81 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 26 innings. This season he is 4-5 in 15 starts with a 4.81 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 63.2 innings.
