The Detroit Tigers will face the Toronto Blue Jays today and they’ll have a lineup that almost teases an Opening Day lineup with their ace on the mound. The team after today’s game will face the Braves tomorrow then some of the team will head to Santo Domingo to face the Dominican Republic ahead of the World Baseball Classic. The remaining players will face Panama on Wednesday.
This morning ahead of the game they made their second round of roster moves. The Tigers optioned pitcher Ty Madden and Dylan Smith to Triple-A Toledo. Both will still travel with the team to the Dominican. Madden is expected to be in the starting rotation at Toledo this season. Madden made one start this spring going two innings without allowing a base runner and he struck out one. Smith appeared in two games for the Tigers this spring going 2.1 innings. He allowed four hits and struck out two.

Ty Madden
Madden made his big league debut last season with Detroit. He appeared in six games with one of those coming as a start going 1-1 with a 4.30 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 23 innings. He pitched at Double-A and Triple-A making 22 starts going 3-5 with a 6.98 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 124 strikeouts in 96.2 innings.
Dylan Smith
Smith last season made his big league debut with the Tigers making seven appearances. He went 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and four strikeouts in 13 innings. He pitched across all four minor league levels as well making 30 appearances with one of those coming as a start. Smith was 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.
