Cincinnati Reds Sign Right-Handed Pitcher

Cincinnati Reds Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cincinnati Reds haven’t had an ideal start to the 2026 season. They entered the season with ace Hunter Greene heading to the injured list. They’ve lost pitchers Nick Lodolo and Rhett Lowder over the last week or so. Brandon Williamson was recently put on the 60-day injured list with shoulder issues. Brady Singer may need to head to the injured list. They’re at a spot right now where they’re just looking for someone to give them innings. Today, they signed right-handed pitcher Chris Paddack. Paddack was released from the Miami Marlies earlier this week. He had signed a one-year, four-million-dollar deal with the Marlines over the offseason but had a less-than-ideal start to the 2026 campaign. He made seven appearances with six of those coming as starts, going 0-5 with a 7.63 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 30.2 innings.

Paddack was once a highly touted pitching prospect. He was the 66th prospect by Baseball America and the 34th prospect by MLB.com in 2019. In 2019, his rookie season, he made 26 starts for the Padres, going 9-7 with a 3.33 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, and 153 strikeouts in 140.2 innings. In his career, the 30-year-old righty has made 125 appearances, with 116 of those coming as starts, with four different franchises. He’s 32-41 with a 4.79 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 556 strikeouts in 612.1 innings.
