MLB Game Recap

The Yankees got on the board first in the fifth. The Red Sox tied it up in the sixth as Willson Contreras doubled home Ceddanne Rafaela. The Yankees then scored five in the eighth with a solo home run, an RBI single, and a three-run home run to make it 6-1, and that was the final.

Ranger Suarez got the start, going 6.1 innings, allowing a run on six hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out six. Justin Slaten went 0.2 innings, allowing four runs on three hits; he walked one and struck out two. Joe La Sorsa made his Red Sox debut and gave up the three-run homer on the first pitch he threw.

Standout Performer

Ceddanne Rafaela went 2-4. He was the only Red Sox hitter to have multiple hits. Rafaela scored the lone run for Boston in the loss.

Key News & Notes

Bob Nightengale yesterday said Aroldis Chapman is expected to be traded. He’s the big reliever to watch on the trade market. He has appeared in 20 games, going 0-1 with 13 saves. He has a 0.46 ERA, a 0.92 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts. However, it came out after he pitched Friday that he’s dealing with a hamstring issue, so that’ll be something to watch for his trade value. The San Diego Padres are a team to watch as they’re in the market for more relievers. Another name that has been mentioned as a possible trade piece as well is Justin Slaten.
