Boston Red Sox & Milwaukee Brewers Make A Trade

The Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers made a trade this morning. The Red Sox are 6-4 and sit a half game back of first place in the American League East, while the Brewers are 5-5 and sit a game back of first place in the National League Central. The Red Sox are trading right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester to the Brewers in exchange for prospect Yophery Rodriguez, a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick, and a player to be named later or cash considerations. The Brewers then designated left-handed pitcher Grant Wolfram for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Priester.

Quinn Priester

The Boston Red Sox acquired Priester from the Pittsburgh Pirates last season for Nick Yorke. Priester made nine starts at Triple-A Worcester last season following the trade. He went 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and 42 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. He made one start for the Boston Red Sox last season, picking up the win going five innings, giving up one run on four hits; he walked one and struck out two. This season, in one start, he suffered a loss, going four innings, giving up two runs on six hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out six.

Yophery Rodriguez

Rodriguez in 2024 in Single-A hit .250 with a .726 OPS. He had 23 doubles, six triples, seven home runs, 60 RBI, and 59 runs scored. This season, in three games, he’s hitting .417 with a 1.128 OPS. He has a double, a triple, and three runs scored.
