The Washington Nationals enter today’s game with the Twins with a 16-20 record. They sit nine and a half games back from the Braves in the NL East. The Nationals lost last evening, 11-3, behind an awful start from Cade Cavalli. Mike Mikolas will take the mound for the Nationals tonight against Bailey Bober. First pitch will be 6:45 PM at Nationals Park. Today, before the game, the Nationals have announced two roster moves. They have shaken up the bullpen by sending down Andre Granillo to Triple-A.

Andre Granillo

The Washington Nationals have optioned right-hand pitcher Andre Granillo to the Rochester Red Wings. This move is effective ahead of their game tonight with the Twins. Granillo has appeared in eight games for the Nationals this season, without factoring in a decision. He has pitched nine and one-third innings, allowing eight walks, striking out three, and allowing a .333 average against. Granillo leaves the Nationals with a 9.64 ERA and a 2.25 WHIP.

Zak Kent

The Washington Nationals have recalled Zak Kent from Triple-A today. Kent has already appeared in two games for Minnesota this season. For the Twins, he had a 4.91 ERA, two strikeouts, and a 2.45 WHIP in three and two-thirds innings pitched. The Washington Nationals claimed Kent on May 3rd. He was later optioned to Triple-A. He has yet to pitch for the Rochester Red Wings this season.
