The Toronto Blue Jays will take on the Texas Rangers tonight in a three-game series. The Blue Jays have had a disappointing season and with the trade deadline approaching they are likely to be sellers moving off pieces who have expiring contracts. Today however it was a different kind of roster move as they have recalled RHP Yerry Rodriguez from Triple-A Buffalo and he will be active for tonight’s game, in the corresponding move they have optioned RHP Ryan Burr to Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Yerry Rodriguez

Rodriguez has appeared in 26 big league games with one of those coming as a start all for the Rangers, he is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA, a 5.59 FIP, a 1.71 WHIP, a 4.8 BB/9, and an 8.0 K/9 in 31.2 innings. This season he had appeared in 12 games with the Rangers going 1-0 with a 6.88 ERA, a 7.67 FIP, a 1.59 WHIP, a 5.8 BB/9, and a 6.4 K/9 in 17 innings. He was traded to Toronto on June 30th and since joining the Blue Jays he pitched at Triple-A Buffalo making five appearances posting a 1.80 ERA, a 1.80 WHIP, a 6.8 BB/9, and a 14.4 K/9 in five innings.

RHP – Ryan Burr

Burr has been up and down this season, with Toronto he’s appeared in ten games posting a 5.40 ERA, a 3.84 FIP, a 1.10 WHIP, a 3.6 BB/9, and an 8.1 K/9 in ten innings. At Buffalo, he’s appeared in five games posting an 11.25 ERA, a 2.50 WHIP, a 9.0 BB/9, and a 20.3 K/9 in four innings.
