The Toronto Blue Jays are getting set to kick off a three-game series this weekend against the Washington Nationals. Tonight’s game will see Yusei Kikuchi taking on Patrick Corbin for the Nationals. Before tonight’s game the Blue Jays made the following roster moves by calling up outfielder Nathan Lukes from Triple-A Buffalo, with the call up the Blue Jays have optioned utility man Addison Barger to Triple-A Buffalo.

Blue Jays Moves By The Numbers

Nathan Lukes

Lukes was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He would be traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on August 1, 2016, for Brandon Guyer. On November 7, 2021 he was granted free agency and signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on November 29, 2021. In 2022 he played for Triple-A Buffalo appearing in 111 games hitting .285 with a .789 OPS; he had 25 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 61 RBI, 62 runs scored, 20 stolen bases, and 47 walks. In 2023 he split time between Triple-A and with Toronto. With Buffalo he played in 48 games hitting, .366 with a .953 OPS; he had 25 doubles, one triple, 32 home runs, 39 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 17 walks. With Toronto he played in 29 games hitting .192 with a .598 OPS; he had a double, a triple, two RBI, four runs scored, and four walks. In spring training this year he played in 16 games hitting .450 with a 1.100 OPS; he had four doubles, a triple, six RBI, eight runs scored, two stolen bases, and five walks. He would start the 2024 season in Buffalo, in 20 games he was hitting .284 with a .780 OPS: he had three doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored, three stolen bases, and seven walks.

Addison Barger

Barger was drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He has played across all of the Blue Jays minor league levels spending 2023 playing with their rookie league team, Single-A Dunedin, and Triple-A Buffalo, and across those three levels he hit .247 with a .745 OPS; he had 25 doubles, and nine home runs, 47 RBI, 56 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 57 walks. This spring in nine games he went 8-18 with three doubles, two RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base, and four walks. He started the season at Triple-A Buffalo hitting .314 with a 1.021 OPS; he had ten doubles, three home runs, 21 RBI, 17 runs scored, and 14 walks. With Toronto in five games he went 1-18 with a run scored.
