Texas Rangers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

Before starting the series with the Oakland Athletics, the Texas Rangers announced that Wyatt Langford was placed on the ten-day injured list retroactive to May 5th. He was removed from the game against the Kansas City Royals on May 4th in the bottom of the 5th inning after he pulled up running down the first base line during an at-bat. After the game on May 5th, manager Bruce Bochy said he was diagnosed with a right hamstring strain with a return sometime in the next three to four weeks. In a corresponding move, it was announced that infielder Jonathan Ornelas was being recalled from the Round Rock Express.

Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 1st round of the 2023 MLB Amateur Draft. He made his Major League debut on Opening Day, March 28th, against the Chicago Cubs. He has a slash line of .224/.295/.293 with 26 hits, 13 runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run, 11 RBIs, one stolen base, 11 walks, and 29 strikeouts across 31 appearances. In his brief minor league career, he played at every level of the Rangers’ farm system. IF Jonathan Ornelas

Drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 3rd round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. Ornelas made his Major League debut on August 7th, 2023, against the Oakland Athletics. He appeared in eight games and had one hit, two runs, and four strikeouts. In his six-year Minor League career, he has a slash line of .273/.348/.396 with 548 hits, 338 runs, 93 doubles, 16 triples, 41 home runs, 231 RBIs, 212 walks, six intentional walks, and 491 strikeouts across 516 appearances.
