The Texas Rangers had a rough week, having played a game every day since Spring Training games began. Thankfully, they are due a break this week. The Rangers dropped four of the seven games, going 2-4-1. Wednesday, the Rangers squared off with the Colorado Rockies, ending the game in a 6-6 tie. Thursday saw a World Series rematch between the Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. As in November, the game ended in the Rangers’ favor with a score of 5-7. The next three days, the club dropped games against the Kansas City Royals (4-2), Los Angeles Dodgers (7-1), and the Chicago Cubs (5-1). Monday was a refreshing change with a 15-5 win over the Los Angeles Angels before being shut out by the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday. The Rangers have a current Cactus League record of 9-8-2.

OF – Evan Carter
Evan Carter appeared in four of the seven games this week. He was 3-10 with three runs, two RBIs, two walks, and one strikeout. Carter has a spring slash line of .357/.406/.607 across 28 at-bats with six runs, ten hits, one double, two home runs, nine RBIs, two walks, seven strikeouts, two stolen bases, and an OPS of 1.013. According to MLB.com, he is tied for 3rd in home runs, 5th in RBIs, 6th in runs batted in, and 6th in hits.
OF – Wyatt Langford
Wyatt Langford has been busy this week, appearing in six of the seven games. He went 6-15 with five runs, three RBIs, three walks, and two strikeouts. He also ranked in yet another home run. His slash line for spring training is .375/.462/.781 thus far with 32 at-bats, ten runs, twelve hits, one double, four home runs, ten RBIs, five walks, ten strikeouts, and an OPS of 1.243. Langford was edged out of 1st in OPS and is 7th in batting average this week. He remains tied for 1st in home runs, has improved to tied for 4th in RBIs, tied for 3rd in runs batted in, and tied for 4th in hits.
INF – Sebastian Walcott
Sebastian Walcott made one appearance this week going 0-1 with a walk that drove in a run. Walcott’s spring slash line is .000/.250/.000 with a total of one run, one walk, one strikeout, one stolen base and an OPS of .250. Sebastian Walcott will be appearing in this week’s Spring Breakout game.
RHP – Brock Porter
Brock Porter is not currently present in the Major League camp in Surprise, he will however be participating in the Spring Breakout game this week.
INF – Justin Foscue
Justin Foscue played in only three of the seven games this week due to a minor injury. This week, he went 1-8 with one run, one RBI, one walk, and two strikeouts. His spring slash line is .286/.355/.393 with three runs, eight hits, three doubles, one RBI, two walks, nine strikeouts, and an OPS of .748. Foscue originally appeared on the Spring Breakout roster. However, he has since been removed and will remain with the major league club.
INF – Abimelec Ortiz
Abimelec Ortiz appeared in two of the seven games this week. He went 0-1 with one strikeout. This spring, Ortiz is batting .100 across ten at-bats with one hit, one run, one double, one walk, no home runs, RBIs, or stolen bases, and six strikeouts with an OPS of .450. Ortiz will also appear in the Spring Breakout game this week.
INF – Davis Wendzel
Davis Wendzel played in five of the seven games this week, going 5-11 with one run, three RBIs, one walk, and five strikeouts. This spring, Wendzel is hitting .333 with four runs, ten hits, three doubles, no home runs, nine RBIs, two walks, one stolen base, ten strikeouts, and an OPS of .815. He is tied for fifth in RBIs and sixth in hits (along with teammate Evan Carter).
OF – Jonathan Ornelas
Jonathan Ornelas has appeared in three of the seven games. He went 1-3 with one strikeout. This spring, he is hitting .200 with four runs, four hits, one double, no home runs, two RBIs, one stolen base, five strikeouts, and an OPS of .523. As of Sunday, March 10th, the Rangers have optioned Jonathan Ornelas back to AAA Round Rock. Jonathan Ornelas will also appear in the Spring Breakout game on Thursday.
RHP – Jack Leiter
Jack Leiter appeared in one game this week. He pitched three innings, recording two hits, two runs (both earned), and one home run. He gave up two walks and was credited with one strikeout. He has appeared in four games during spring training and has a recorded ERA of 3.86 across seven innings and a WHIP of 1.29. Leiter will participate in the Spring Breakout game this week.
INF – Cameron Cauley
Cameron Cauley appeared in five of the seven games this week and went 4-6 with two runs and two RBIs. This spring, he is hitting .462 with eight runs, six hits, one double, one triple, one home run, three RBIs, one walk, one stolen base, two strikeouts, and an OPS of 1.456. He ranks 4th in runs batted in. Cauley will also participate in the Spring Breakout game this week.
