Texas Rangers Down on the Farm 5/6-5/12

Rangers Prospects

This week was full of disappointment for much of the franchise. The Texas Rangers ended their long road trip in a disappointing series sweep against the Colorado Rockies. They were 3-4 this week. The Round Rock Express and the Frisco RoughRiders were the week’s highlights, going 4-2 and 4-1, respectively. The Hickory Crawdads were 2-4 this week and the Down East Wood Ducks were 3-3.

OF – Wyatt Langford – Texas Rangers

Wyatt Langford spent the week on the 10-day injured list. He is expected to be out 3-4 weeks with his hamstring injury.

INF – Sebastian Walcott – Hickory Crawdads

Sebastian Walcott played in five of the six scheduled games this week. He went 3-18 with one run, three walks, and five strikeouts.

RHP – Brock Porter – ACL Rangers

Brock Porter was assigned to the ACL Rangers on April 27th and remains there for the time being.

INF – Justin Foscue – Texas Rangers

Justin Foscue remains on the 60-day injured list with an oblique injury sustained while swinging for his first Major League hit.

INF – Abimelec Ortiz – Frisco RoughRiders

Abimelec Ortiz appeared in four of the five games for the Riders this week. He went 2-14 with one run, RBI, and four strikeouts.

INF – Davis Wendzel – Texas Rangers

Davis Wendzel appeared in four games this week. He went 0-12 with three strikeouts.

OF – Jonathan Ornelas – Texas Rangers/Round Rock Express

Jonathan Ornelas was recalled on May 6th to fill the slot left by an injured Wyatt Langford and was optioned back to the Express on May 8th. Ornelas made one appearance at the plate for the Rangers after coming into the game at second base for Marcus Semien, going 0-1 with no runs, strikeouts, or walks. Ornelas rejoined the Express for the game on May 10th. He went 1-13 with one run, one walk, and four strikeouts.

RHP – Jack Leiter – Texas Rangers

Jack Leiter was called up on May 8th to fill the 27th slot on the roster for the doubleheader in Oakland before being optioned back to Round Rock on May 9th.He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing seven hits, six runs, four earned runs, no walks, two home runs, and three strikeouts. He is expected to be activated for Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians.

RHP – Cole Winn – Texas Rangers

Cole Winn made three relief appearances this week for the Rangers. He pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four hits, four earned runs, one walk, one home run, and four strikeouts.

INF – Cameron Cauley – Hickory Crawdads

Cameron Cauley has made a triumphant return to the Crawdads lineup. He was activated off the injured list on May 8th and appeared in his first game in just over a month. He went 3-15 with two runs, one RBI, two walks, one home run, and five strikeouts.

The Round Rock Express will play the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in Round Rock, Texas.
