Texas Rangers Down On The Farm 4/8-4/14

Rangers Prospects

The Round Rock Express went 2-4 in their series with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club. The Frisco RoughRiders went 5-1 with their series against the Corpus Christi Hooks. The week’s highlight was the big league rehabber matchup of Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe and Houston Astros ace Justin Verlander. The Hickory Crawdads went 3-3 against Jersey Shore BlueCrabs. The Down East Wood Ducks went 1-5 against the Carolina Mudcats.

OF – Evan Carter – Texas Rangers

Evan Carter appeared in six of the seven games this week. He went 7-23 with seven runs, four RBIs, two walks, two home runs, and five strikeouts.

OF – Wyatt Langford – Texas Rangers

Wyatt Langford appeared in six of the seven games this week. He went 7-22 with four runs, three RBIs, three walks, and two strikeouts. For the first time in his big league career, he encountered umpire Angel Hernandez. Hernandez called him out on strikes that were several inches outside the zone, the furthest being more than six inches outside.

INF – Sebastian Walcott – Hickory Crawdads

Sebastian Walcott appeared in all six games for the Crawdads this week. He went 3-22 with two runs, one walk and nine strikeouts.

RHP – Brock Porter – Hickory Crawdads.

Brock Porter made one start this week for three innings of work. He allowed two hits, one run, one home run, walked three, and garnered three punchouts. His next scheduled appearance is expected to start on Saturday, April 20th against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

INF – Justin Foscue – Texas Rangers

Justin Foscue injured his oblique during the plate appearance, where he recorded his first Major League hit. Unfortunately, the injury is far worse than initially believed to be. The Rangers announced on April 13th that he would be moved to the 60-day injured list.

INF – Abimelec Ortiz – Frisco Rough Riders

Abimelec Ortiz appeared in five of six games this week. He went 6-16 with six runs, two RBIs, six walks, one home run, and four strikeouts.

INF – Davis Wendzel – Texas Rangers

Davis Wendzel received the call to join the Big Show on April 8th to take Josh Jung’s place on the 40-man roster when he was shifted to the 60-day injured list. He made his Major League debut on April 9th against the Oakland Athletics. He is still looking for his first big-league hit. He went 0-5 across three games with no hits, runs, walks, or strikeouts.

OF – Jonathan Ornelas – Round Rock Express

Jonathan Ornelas appeared in one of the six games this week for the Express. In that game he made one plate appearance and recorded a strikeout. Management has not issued a statement explaining why he has disappeared from the roster.

RHP – Jack Leiter – Round Rock Express

Jack Leiter made one start for the Express this week, on April 12th. He pitched 6.0 innings and allowed six hits, three runs, two walks, three home runs, and two strikeouts. He is expected to start on Thursday, April 18th, against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

INF – Cameron Cauley – Hickory Crawdads

Cameron Cauley appeared in four of the six games this week. He went 5-14 with one run, one RBI and six strikeouts.
